Thank you for signing up with us for the NUS annual mass swim and swimathon event!

Here is some information that you must know before coming on the 11th of September 2010 (Saturday).

1. Please print out and fill up the following Indemnity Forms, and bring it along on the event day.
Do note that participants who do not submit the necessary Indemnity Form would NOT be allowed to take part in the event.

2. There is a Splashdown 2010 GUIDE for all participants.
PLEASE READ THROUGH THE GUIDE as it contains important information for ALL PARTICIPANTS.
It includes the race rules, procedures, participant flow, etc.
It has been sent to your email. If you have not received it, let us know. (Some emails were bounced back)

3. The Reporting time this Saturday is as follows:

As we countdown to the NUS annual mass swim & swimathon event, the organising commitee is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that all our participants enjoy this event - be it by ensuring that we have sufficient gifts for everyone, or by making sure that there will be a smooth flow during the event.

Hence, we would appreciate it if participants could also help us out by ensuring that you have done the following:
1. Read through our Rules & Regulations.
2. Print out, fill up, and bring along the necessary Indeminity Forms on 11th of Sep. Forms can be found here.
3. Ensure that you are physically fit before our event (Especially those with physical injuries or flu - we strongly advise you to visit your nearest GP to certify that you are able to swim for 3 hours under the sun)

We would also like to thank those who have sent in email enquiries to find out if they are still able to register for the event. Unfortunately, we have reached our fullest capacity and will not be accepting anymore registrants. We have closed registration and payment and seek your kind understanding. Thank you for your support in Splashdown 2010! Our SWIMATHON category is now FULL. We will not be taking in anymore participants for this category. Participants who have submitted their online registration forms are strongly advised to make payment within the week of signing up in order to secure their spot in our event. Registration will only confirmed upon payment.

If you are still interested in joining us on the 11th of September, our FUN SWIM category is still OPEN for registration! Spaces are limited so do register soon!

Rules and Regulations

1. Participants who fail to abide with the Rules and Regulations of Splashdown 2010 may be disqualified.

2. Participants who feel unwell before the event are advised to inform Splashdown Officials and stay clear of the pool. Participants who feel unwell during the course of the event should stop and seek immediate medical attention by approaching any of the Splashdown Officials.

3. The Splashdown 2010 Organising Committee reserves the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable (i.e. dehydration, dislocation of shoulder, etc.) of continuing the swim.

4. Participants will be assigned with race numbers to be written in black permanent marker on their left upper arms. The race numbers must be clearly visible to Splashdown Officials at all times throughout the event.

5. Participants are not allowed to change nor swop lanes with their friends, and should remain in the lanes designated to them. Failure to do so might result in disqualification.

6. Participants are STRICTLY not allowed to bring nor use their own rubberbands for this event, and are also not allowed to combine the number of rubberbands from two or more persons. The Splashdown 2010 Organising Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participants found to be cheating during the race.

7. In case of bad weather, it will be at the discretion of the Splashdown 2010 Organizing Committee to cancel the event. In the event of cancellation, there will be a lucky draw for the top prizes.

What is the NUS Splashdown event about?
The NUS Splashdown mass swim & swimathon event is an annual project organized by the NUS University Lifeguard Corps. In past years, the mass swim was organized not only to promote lifesaving as a sport and a skill but also to foster interest and awareness in swimming. Support from the NUS population has always been well received as well as from various varsity teams.

Objectives of the event:
1. To raise awareness of water safety.
2. To promote lifesaving as a sport.
3. To promote a healthy lifestyle through fitness, enrichment and fun.

Participants will be engaged in a day of swimathon (5km) or fun swim as they push their limits during the stipulated time in order to win more attractive prizes. On top of the entitled goodie bags that each participant will receive, they will also be rewarded with more lap gifts the more laps they cover!

Event Eligibility:
1. The event is open to all members affiliated to the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the public.
2. All participants must be able to swim and float without aid over a minimum distance of 1km (20 laps) in order to take part in this event.

Activities at Splashdown 2010:

Aside from our mass swim and swimathon event, here are some fun-filled activities that we have lined up for YOU this year!

The 'Yogood' Lifesaving Challenge!
In line with our objective and our believe that anyone and everyone can save lives, we will be conducting a lifesaving challenge in which participants will be invited to complete a simple lifesaving rescue at the pool! The participants clocking the fastest few timings will be awarded with attractive prizes sponsored by Yogood.

Everyone can be a Lifesaver!
ULC will be conducting a demonstration on basic lifesaving rescue techniques to promote our cause of lifesaving and water safety to the participants. Lifesaving equipment such as ropes, rescue board, rescue tube and manikin will also be made available for participants who are taking a break to try out.

Food, drinks, and shopping at discounted rates!
Our sponsors from various companies (i.e. Arena, Dentiste's toothpaste, Sweet Hut, etc.) will be setting up booths and selling their products at discounted prices. Stay tuned for more information regarding this.

Lucky Draw!
Participants will be entitled to take part in a lucky draw where 1 lucky winner will walk away with an authentic Speedo watch at the end of the event - the perfect all-around sports watch for swimmers and fitness athletes!

1. Fill up and submit the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM. (Form is removed. Registration is closed. Thank you for your interest!)

4. All registrants will be required to complete an Indemnity Form. Please print the Indemnity Form (download below) and submit it on the Event Day itself. Registrants who fail to produce the Indemnity Form will not be allowed to participate in the event.

Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Question 1: Which category should I join if I just want to have a leisure swim with my friends?
Answer: Join the FUN SWIM category. However, in order to obtain an event's T-shirt, participants under both categories would still be required to complete a minimum number of 20 laps.

Question 2: If I join the FUN SWIM category, will I still be able to vie for the top 5 prizes?
Answer: No, we regret to inform that only the COMPETITVE category is eligible for the top 5 prizes.

Question 3: What is the difference between the FUN SWIM category and the SWIMATHON category?
Answer: The FUN SWIM category is targeted at participants who are interested in the mass swim event but whom are unable/might not be able to complete swimming 100 laps within 3 hours. Participants under this category will be entitled to a goodie bag, an event T-shirt, and lap gifts. However, they cannot vie for the top 5 prizes.

The COMPETITIVE category, on the other hand, targets swimmers who are confident in completing 100 laps or more within 3 hours. Participants are entitled to a goodie bag, an exclusive Finisher's T-shirt, lap gifts, and will vie for the top 5 prizes.

Question 4: What kind of goodies/prizes are there at Splashdown?
Answer: We have been honoured to be sponsored by many awesome companies as seen on the right hand column of our website. Not only will participants each receive a goodie bag with goodies from our sponsors, you will also receive an Arena event T-shirt (upon completing 20 laps).

Participants will stand a chance to win a Speedo watch in our Lucky Draw, have an opportunity to play games to win Yogood gourmet muesli products, swim for lap gifts (Arena, Shiseido, Fabulous Group, Mentholatum, Lip Ice, Sun Play, etc.), and also vie for our attractive top 5 prizes!

There will also be discounts on our sale of various products on the event day.

Question 5: Will I be able to get a Finisher's T-shirt if I completed more than 100 laps despite joining the FUN SWIM category?
Answer: Unfortunately, you will NOT be able to obtain a Finisher's T-shirt, as these T-shirts are limited and would have been ordered based on registration figures before hand.

Question 6: I am aiming to vie for the top 5 prizes, which means I would have to spend more time swimming. However, would that mean that there would be very few lap gifts remaining by the time I finish swimming? And wouldn't the queue for lap gifts exchange be very long?

Answer: Rest assured, we have taken in feedback from past years' to improve our event year after year in order to allow our participants to enjoy themselves to their fullest. The organising committee will do our best to ensure that our swimathon participants get a fair opportunity to exchange their rubberbands for lap gifts. We are also working on improving our queue system. However, participants also have the responsibility in facilitating a faster flow at the queue by helping to make quick decisions at the lap gifts booths.

Question 7: How do I get to NUS Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC)?
(Click here for map of SRC)
Answer: If you are taking public transport, take the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train to Clementi station. Walk to the bus interchange just next to the MRT station. Take the Bus Service No. 96 to the campus. Alight at the bus-stop after the Central Library, which is the third stop after the bus turns left into the NUS campus. Take the staircase down and follow the underpass, which will lead you to a zebra crossing on the left. This route will take you to the NUS SRC, where you will be able to see our Registration booth and the swimming pool upon entering.

You may also take the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) to the Buona Vista station and board Bus Service No. 95 from the bus stop on the opposite side of North Buona Vista Road where the Ministry of Education is. Alight at the bus stop after the University Hall (which will be on your left, while the running track and tennis courts are on the right). Cross the road and walk towards the SRC Pool.

Question 8: What happens in the case of bad weather?
